Grief & Loss Counseling

Our basic human need is to know we're not alone in our pain.

You may be experiencing pain that you have never experienced before. The depth of excruciating pain is unbearable and it feels like it’s never going to end. Your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health feels like it’s deteriorating. You may be in deep emotions of sadness, guilt, or anger and may be too afraid to bring all of these big feelings to someone thinking it may turn others away or be “too much” for them. This ultimately leads you to withdraw and isolate thinking that no one can possibly understand what you’re going through.

You may have lost a family member. You may have had a close relationship with them or you may have had a distant and complex relationship. You’re not just going through the death of a loved one, but you’re going through all the different layers that come with the loss. You may be grieving what the relationship could have been, what it should have been. There are layers of anger, deep sadness, confusion and it’s hard to understand how these very contrasting feelings can exist all at the same time.

Whether you lost someone this past year or ten years ago, grief can feel like the loss just happened yesterday.

We will work together to weave out the multi-layered and complex grief you may be experiencing. I will help you to start putting language to and find more meaning of your unique experience. There is so much integration around grief that is important and needed as we journey together towards clarity, healing, and deeper connection with ourselves and others.
